Vehicle Policy
1. Glossary When referring to ‘you’ or ‘your’ in this document, it means the employee who is signing the declaration at the end. When referring to ‘the company’ or ‘we’, the document is referring to Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited. 2. Company Policy Statement and Scope This policy outlines use of company vehicles and the responsibilities that are held when using one. The document explains the steps you should take if anything happens while you are under the control of a company vehicle and the precautions you should also take. There is information that the company need to know about your license and convictions and failure to provide the correct information, may mean that you are not covered by our insurance. 3. Who Does What i.e. Responsibilities of All 3.1 The Driver If you drive the companies vehicles you are responsible for taking all reasonable steps to ensure the vehicle is kept in good condition and driven safely at all times, and for ensuring the vehicle is checked and maintained as required and at the correct intervals. You will be required to pay any fines or penalties for parking, traffic offences, mobile phones or smoking fines incurred when you are using a vehicle in the performance of your duties or otherwise, and this can be by way of deduction from wages. You will not permit any other person to drive the vehicle other than as specifically authorised in writing by us. 3.2 Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Ltd The company may deduct or charge to you the amount of any insurance excess or other reasonable costs should a vehicle be involved in a road traffic accident or damaged in any other way while being driven by you or in your care. 3.3 The Fleet Management Team The Fleet team are the onsite garage; Mr N Hatton is the Fleet Manager and will deal with any mechanical problems with any company vehicle. Please go to them with anything to do with the company vehicle condition and problems. However, if you have any information about the vehicles in which is not mechanical, then please report it to Mr Chris Sedgeman, Mr Stephen Sedgeman or Mrs Lynn Way. 4. Guidelines for Using Company Vehicles Vehicles are provided for business use and the use of a vehicle may be withdrawn at any time and without notice. Reasonable private use of vehicles is not permitted and the use acceptable is driving to and from work (i.e. picking up staff) and moving the vehicle for a neighbour. You will report any accident involving the vehicle without any delay to us and we will report it to our insurers and will obtain all relevant and lawfully required particulars from any other party to an accident. 5. Who Gets A Company Vehicle? 5.1 Driver Declarations If you are driving one of our vehicles, in work hours or out of work hours, you must have declared all (if any) offences that you have against you on your driving license. If you are summonsed for or convicted of a driving related offence or if you have a fine for such an offence levied against you, while you are working for us you must immediately tell us. 5.2 Full Driving Licence, Provisional & Foreign If your duties involve driving a vehicle you must at all times hold a current full UK driving licence. We must hold a copy of your current driving licence. Please ensure the address is correct. 6. Fuel Policy 6.1 Fuel There is a fuel pump at our premises and it is your responsibility to check if the vehicle you are driving need to be refuelled. Please write on the diesel record sheet when you do refuel. When working far away, a fuel allowance will be given, and you will be refunded for fuel if you need to put it in using your own money. 6.2 Vehicles Taken Home We will only pay for fuel used during business use,. We DO NOT permit you and are not making the vehicle available to drive the for personal use.
