Environmental Policy Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited , in carrying out their operations, recognise the importance of maintaining its operations to ensure the safety of the environment. The company recognises that effective management of our environment makes good business sense and will be a fundamental and integral part of our business strategy. This policy will be reviewed on an annual basis. • Being aware of how our activities impact upon the environment and seek to minimise adverse environmental effects by means of the best available techniques, not entailing excessive cost, through a policy of health and safety improvement in the workplace, control of pollution and care for the local environment. • Complying with our legal obligations and playing our part in influencing future legislation. • Conserving the use of resources, particularly those which are scarce or non-renewable by using suppliers that ensure the use of resources. • To avoid waste and encourage conversion, re-use and recycling, e.g. Kindling and waste disposal management, etc.; • To preserve, restore and enhance the built and natural heritage; • To encourage the sustainable use of land based resources and certified timber and wood products, e.g. non-sustainable recourses – peat, tropical hardwoods; • To reduce air, land and water pollution, e.g. toxic chemical sprays, motor exhaust etc. • Being sensitive to the environment concerns of our neighbours and the communities through which we operate and respond to them. • Adopting environmental objectives to continually improve our environmental performance and monitor progress in their achievement. • Requiring our suppliers and contractors to have proper regard for our Environmental Policy for the goods and services they provide us. • Working with or clients to reach environmental targets and KPI statistics. • The managing director is responsible for communicating the Environmental Policy to all persons working for or on behalf of the organisation and making it available to the public. The Management of Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited is committed to the continual improvement of the Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS), according to legal and other requirements, by following the principles and requirements of ISO 14001:2015. The framework for setting objectives is defined in the Environment and Quality Manual. All employees of Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited are acting to prevent and eliminate environmental pollution through: • Continual education in order to prevent environmental pollution, preserve natural resources, and improve the QEMS • Continually raising environmental awareness • Exploration of new materials with smaller environmental footprints and improvement of recycle management • Decrease of non-renewable energy consumption and replacement with renewable energy sources • Following environmental procedures in order to decrease environmental pollution • Decrease of adverse impact on water, soil, air and biodiversity. The spraying of equipment will be completed in a designated area. All operatives will be wearing the appropriate PPE. Sawdust extractor to minimise waste overspill. Lubricant used to minimise metal grindings.

The Environment and Materials All materials used are made from sustainable resources. Our suppliers confirm that our materials do not contain the any hazardous chemicals. Please see our COSHH assessment for full details. Our materials do not contain any item on the European Red List. Recycling Steel, paper, toner cartridges, wood, cardboard are recycled. We have specific wheelie bins for recycling cardboard, cans, paper and plastic. We also now recycle all of our scaffold boards which are no longer suitable for using in the service of scaffolding, our kindling department recycles all of the old boards into kindling wood for resale.
