MOBILE PHONE AND DEVICE POLICY
PERSONAL PHONE CALLS & MOBILE PHONES AT WORK POLICY It is a term of your contract of employment that you comply with our rules and with our policy for the use of the mobile phones as follows: Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited appreciates that there are circumstances in which employees need to make and receive personal phone calls during working hours. This Policy sets out the circumstances under which employees may make and receive personal phone calls at work, and the limits of acceptable usage. This Policy will commence on and from the date signed below. It replaces all other policies or arrangements previously detailing personal phone calls at work (whether written or not). This Policy applies to employees, agents and contractors (including temporary contractors) of Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited, collectively referred to in this Policy as “workplace participants”. Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited will provide you with a business mobile telephone which is provided for legitimate business use. You will be allowed to phone your spouse / partner when on breaks. The making and receiving of personal phone calls by workplace participants whilst at work is a benefit and not a right. However, Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited does recognise that in some circumstances workplace participants may need to make or receive personal telephone calls. Where a workplace participant needs to make or receive a personal phone call during work time the following procedures apply: (a) Workplace participants must not take or make personal calls during working hours and defer all calls to a time outside work hours or to designated break times; unless preapproval for matters of urgency has been given by Managing Director, Operations Manager, General Manager or your team manager. (b) If personal phone calls have been approved to be taken or made during work time they should be kept as short as possible in the interests of minimising disruption to work; workplace participant should remove themselves from the work area when making or receiving approved calls and go to a safe work area; the safe work area is: as detailed within your site induction or in the works vehicle. (c) if a workplace participant is on a personal phone call and a client or customer is waiting, the personal call should be terminated immediately and can be resumed, if urgent, at a later time; (d) Calls on company phones must not be made to fee for service numbers – for example premium rate numbers. (e) STD or international calls must not be made by a workplace participant without the permission of either the Managing Director, Financial Director, Operations Manager, General Manager or your team manager. Permission will only be granted in extenuating circumstances. If permission for such a call is given, the workplace participant may be asked to reimburse Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited for the personal phone call(s) made; (f) under no circumstances may workplace participants use Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited telephones to conduct any business activities, other than for Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited benefit; (g) All mobile phones will be kept on silent and not handled, for personal use, whilst working. If you are required to be contacted and the matter is urgent and there has been no pre-approval. No mobile phones can be used when working at height. (h) You will be asked to photograph scaffolds and for the completion of your day-books and company documents / meetings. You are not allowed to pass these photos onto any person, organisation, or companies of any kind due to data protection issues with our clients. We will
